Out with the old, in with the new: New Ogden Tables

The current edition of the Ogden Tables (the 6th edition) which dates from 2007 is obviously out of date.

The Government Actuary’s Department is keen to issue an up-to-date set of tables, and this is likely to happen in the second half of the year.

What to expect? A short guide of the likely changes.

The 6th edition Ogden Tables is based on data which dates back to 2004, and so it was all good news for the Government Actuary Department who obtained funding for an urgent review.

The suggested publication date is end of July 2011, and with such short timescale only some basic modifications are likely.

It is expected that the review will include higher multipliers; the increases for any given age will vary, but likely to be around at least an extra half year.
It is suggested that more significant modifications will be postponed to the next review.
